USDA Forest Service – Watersmeet, MI
C & M Building and Administration Site
NEW SITE: We took the existing USFS nursery site added all new site utilities. These utilities consisted of new city water, electrical, and a new septic system. We also added a new paved road the facility. The building itself is a 3440 square foot pre-engineered steel building with 484 square feet of office space & bathroom in the building and constructed on a thickened edge concrete slab on grade. The area around the new building is a gravel surfaced parking/driveway. During the construction we had to relocate a large rock monument.
OLD SITE DEMO/REHAB: After the construction of the new C&M shop and site work was completed, and the Forest Service had moved all their equipment to the new site. We had to convert the old site to a tree nursery. This included demolishing of 4 existing buildings complete with foundations removed to 12” below existing grade), removing a modular building with pier footings, asbestos abatement of existing buildings, moving an existing steel gate, removing a oil/water separator tank & contents, crushing existing septic tanks, removing a hose drying rack, and finally removing misc. foundations from old equipment throughout the site. After the demolition was complete, we added a new split rail fence, constructed a new road through the site, added a boulder barrier on an existing driveway, added a new drainage swale, tilled the site, and finally seeded / mulched the entire disturbed area.
