Ward 3E Renovation,
Renovation of approximately 14,000 SF of wing for new patient rooms including bariatric rooms. The wing was designed to provide an aesthetically comforting environment for patients recovering from ICU. Evidence based design is based on “biophilic hospital design” to promote healing and well being through a warm and aesthetic environment, vs. a traditional institutional feeling. The finishes were unique and high end to help reduce the institutionalized nature of a hospital.
Demolition consisted of: Removal of existing interior walls, ceilings, flooring, mechanical, fire protection, plumbing systems and fixtures, electrical systems and equipment in unit 3E. New construction consisted of: Construction of new single patient rooms, restrooms, 2- bariatric patient rooms, reception area, offices, housekeeping closet, dirty and clean utility rooms, storage rooms, medication room, nutrition room, family lounge, and consultation room including new interior walls, ceilings, finishes, flooring, plumbing, medical gases, fire protection, HVAC, lighting, power, data, security, nurse call and equipment to accommodate new layout.
The new unit included 17 single patient rooms, one of these being an isolation room, & 2 bariatric single patient rooms one of which is an isolation room. Single patient rooms will include Compass head-wall, side wall and foot-wall systems. All patient rooms have ceiling mounted patient lifts.
