Renovate Building 12

Provide for and furnish all labor, superintendence, materials, tools, equipment, insurance, temporary protection, and other items designated under the provisions of the contract, to Renovate Building 12 to accommodate the Fitness Center, Compensation & Pension Program, and the Simulation Center at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois. Work included all phases of general construction, renovation, alternations, HVAC, interior painting, plumbing, other mechanical and electrical work; 100% interior demolition of existing construction to accommodate new construction, and re-installation of equipment and furnishings.

Part of the building 12 renovation project was to remove the 94 existing windows and reinstall 94 new aluminum casement type double glazed windows. These windows also met the sustainable design requirements for recycled content and regionally supplied products. Complete exterior Landscaping and site work for new parking areas and drop off. Project also included a complete installation of a 2.4kW small wind turbine system. This project was 100% LEED (Gold Certification) and was fully commissioned according to the VA standards for commissioning, all systems.
